Everyone knows about Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta as destinations for LGBT travelers. People in the know even go further afield to the Ajijic and Lake Chapala area or the quieter beach towns of the Costalegre. But what about the rest of Jalisco state?
The town of Tepatitlán de Morelos (Tepa for short) is a mid-sized town about an hour's drive from Guadalajara with an annual pride parade.
The small "pueblo magico" of Tequila is of course well known for its namesake product! Located about an hour and a half from Guadalajara, it is an LGBT welcoming town.
The tiny "pueblo magico" of San Sebastián del Oeste is located about 2 hours drive from Puerto Vallarta, the town has a rich history and is a quiet town but which is welcoming to LGBT visitors.
The town of Autlán (full name Autlan de Navarro) is a town of about 55,000 located about 3 hours drive from either Guadalajara or Colima. The LGBT community there has an annual pride parade but we do not know of any nightlife or other options there.
Other cities, such as Lagos de Moreno & Zapotlán el Grande have significant populations and so must have gay communities but we are not aware of any places to recommend at this time. If you know of places, please add them to the map.
