Veracruz state has a number of different cities which have attractions for the LGBT community. We've split our listings into two different pages:

  • Veracruz and Boca del Río - The state's largest city, officially called Heroica Veracruz, has a huge gay scene. The nearby beach resort of Boca del Río is also popular with LGBT travelers.

  • Xalapa, Coatzacoalcos, Orizaba, Poza Rica - The rest of the state is covered here. There are places to visit and annual gay marches in many cities in Veracruz including the state capital Xalapa and the city of Coatzacoalcos.

LGBT places for Xalapa, Coatzacoalcos, Orizaba, Poza Rica

Veracruz state has a vibrant and very active gay community with multiple destinations for LGBT travelers. The largest city, Heroica Veracruz has it's own page here which also covers nearby Boca del Rio.

The state capital is Xalapa. Sometimes spelled "Jalapa" (but always prounounced "ha-la-pa", this urban delight houses not only the government of Veracruz state but also the Universidad Veracruzana, a lively arts scene, a convivial café life and a sophisticated, chic population. They also have an annual gay pride march in May.

At the south end of the state is the port city of Coatzacoalcos, and the third largest city in the state. They also have an annual gay pride march in May.

We do not know of any LGBT specific places to recommend in Orizaba or Cordoba but they have an annual pride march in March. For places in Poza Rica see below. If you know of any please contact us at info@gaymexicomap.com
