There are a number of small beach resorts south from Puerto Vallarta to Manzanillo (in Colima state) that don't have any gay nightlife but are welcoming to LGBT travelers and could provide a nice counterpoint to party filled nights in Puerto Vallarta.
The largest beach community is Barra de Navidad with a population of about 7000. The other main community is Melaque (which is actually the name usually used to refer collectively to the three villages of Melaque, San Patricio and Colonial Villa Obregon). There is an Annual pride march in San Patricio-Melaque.
Just inland from Barra de Navidad is the small town of Cihuatlán which had their first ever pride parade in 2023.
There is a clothing optional beach at Tenacatita Bay but access is restricted to guests staying at Hotel Punta Serena.
