An employee at Macumba had a medical emergency and the police medics were called. When the police were there, they noted that the bar was serving alcohol after hours and were told about nude pole dancing. For these and other reasons [not having posted emergency exit signs, for instance] the club was closed on April 23 2012 by officials. I have no idea when it will be reopened.

Last summer I found La Caza to be a nice get away from centro, however for those traveling by bus it can be a long ride thru the south side of Merida. Seems management is slipping a bit this year, my last two visits the steam wasn't working and had to ask several times before the the steam was turned on. On my last visit, the pool was closed for cleaning. I think visitors should have been tolded pryor to paying that the pool was closed. The outdoor pool is a nice option considering Merida's extreme summer heat. Also, recent staff hasn't been so friendly. I like this place, however they have work to do to bring it back from being just another bathhouse.

At first my friends and I were glad to see this new venue and wanted to support it. However, there just isn't much going on here and as mentioned drink prices are much higher than regular cantina prices. Also,after being over charged for drinks and the manager refusing to allow us to pay as we ordered to avoid tab disputes, my friends and I will not be supporting this place.

I was in GDL in December and stayed at the gay-owned guesthouse Las Sabilas. It's a little quirky/funky, but very relaxing. Beautiful gardens, and terrific value. And it's across the street from Riilax which is a great sauna.

I was in GDL in December, and riilax is terrific.
It is very clean, has outdoor patio and terrace areas for smoking and chatting. New contemporary interiors, well done. The guys are mainly 20's and 30's, and VERY friendly.
They have super massage attendants that speak English if you prefer English to Spanish.

For no apparent reason, certainly not for better facilities, no for more services, the owner has doubled his entry fee to 20 pesos. Whereas it was worth 10 pesos just to go in and look around, there is not enough new or exciting action to warrant a doubling of the price.

I would recommend either Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco or Playa del Carmen. Mexico City is pretty dead between December 25 - January 1
